“What seems to be the biggest obstacle for clients in therapy? What would you recommend to overcome that?”

Dr Parsons' Response:

“Although my patients are all quite diverse and unique, there is one common thread that seems to affect them all - expectations. Specifically, unclear, uncommunicated, or unrealistic expectations of self and others are often at the core of their struggles. Thankfully the path to healing comes in the form of recognizing, communicating (to self and others), and adjusting expectations to be more realistic accordingly. If you find yourself being constantly disappointed in self or others, ask whether your expectations are clear, communicated, and in line with what is realistic?”
